What Access Does Latitude Have to My LinkedIn Account?

Connecting LinkedIn allows Latitude to publish content and retrieve authorized information needed to provide features such as account selection and analytics. Latitude does not receive your LinkedIn password or unrestricted access to your account. You control the connection through LinkedIn’s authorization process and can disconnect it at any time.

What Latitude Can Access

The access Latitude receives depends on the permissions you approve and the features you enable.

Basic Profile Information

When you connect a personal LinkedIn account, LinkedIn may provide basic information used to identify the account in Latitude, including:

  • Your name

  • Profile photo

  • LinkedIn account identifier

  • Headline

  • Primary email address, when required for authentication

This information helps Latitude display the correct account and confirm which profile is connected. LinkedIn’s standard profile permissions are limited to information about the authenticated member.

Publishing Access

Latitude receives permission to publish content to your LinkedIn profile when you approve the LinkedIn connection.

This allows Latitude to publish posts that you or an authorized Latitude user intentionally:

  • Publish immediately

  • Schedule for a future date and time

  • Add to an approved publishing workflow

LinkedIn describes this permission as the ability to post on behalf of the authenticated member.

Latitude does not independently decide to publish content to your account. A post must be intentionally published or scheduled within your Latitude workspace.

Analytics Access

Analytics access is authorized separately from the initial account connection.

When you enable Analytics, Latitude may retrieve available performance information for your posts and profile, including metrics such as:

  • Impressions

  • Members reached

  • Reactions

  • Comments

  • Reposts

  • Follower information

  • Other performance metrics made available through LinkedIn

LinkedIn provides separate permissions for post and profile analytics.

You must enable Analytics separately for each connected account you want to track. Connecting an account for publishing does not automatically enable its analytics.

Company Page Access

Company Pages are accessed through the personal LinkedIn profile that administers them.

When you add a Company Page, Latitude may receive permission to:

  • Identify the pages you are authorized to manage

  • Publish approved content to the selected page

  • Retrieve available page and post analytics

  • Display the page as a selectable account in Latitude

Latitude can only work with Company Pages for which the connected LinkedIn member has an eligible administrative role.

Adding a Company Page does not give Latitude access to every page on LinkedIn or to pages you do not administer.

What Latitude Cannot Access

Connecting your account does not give Latitude unrestricted control over LinkedIn.

Latitude does not receive or request access to:

  • Your LinkedIn password

  • Your private messages or conversations

  • Your full list of LinkedIn connections

  • Your job applications

  • Your saved jobs

  • Your LinkedIn billing information

  • Your private browsing activity on LinkedIn

  • The ability to change your password

  • The ability to send connection requests

  • The ability to edit your LinkedIn profile

Latitude can only use the permissions presented and approved during LinkedIn’s authorization process. LinkedIn uses OAuth authorization, which allows an application to receive specific permissions without receiving the member’s password.

How LinkedIn Authorization Works

You remain in control of which LinkedIn accounts are connected to Latitude.

You Approve the Connection

When you connect an account, LinkedIn displays an authorization screen explaining the access Latitude is requesting.

Latitude cannot begin making authorized requests for that account until you approve the connection. The level of access is determined by the permissions requested during this process.

Always confirm that the correct LinkedIn profile is signed in before selecting Allow.

Some Features Require Additional Authorization

Certain Latitude features require their own LinkedIn permissions.

For example:

  • Publishing requires permission to post to LinkedIn.

  • Analytics require permission to retrieve reporting data.

  • Company Pages require eligible page permissions.

  • Additional accounts must each be connected separately.

You may therefore see more than one LinkedIn authorization request as you enable different features.

Who Can Use the Connected Account?

Connecting LinkedIn does not automatically give every Latitude user access to the account.

Access depends on your workspace configuration and the permissions you intentionally assign.

Individual Workspaces

In an individual workspace, the connected account is available through your Latitude login.

Do not share your Latitude password with another person.

Teams and Delegated Access

On eligible plans, account owners or workspace administrators may intentionally give another Latitude user access to a connected account.

Depending on the access granted, that person may be able to create, edit, schedule, publish, or review content for the account without receiving the LinkedIn password.

Disconnect Your LinkedIn Account

You can disconnect a LinkedIn account when you no longer want Latitude to publish content or retrieve new information from it.

To disconnect an account:

  1. Open Accounts in Latitude.

  2. Locate the LinkedIn account.

  3. Open the account’s actions menu.

  4. Select the option to disconnect or remove the account.

  5. Confirm the change.

Disconnecting the account prevents Latitude from using that connection for future publishing and data updates.

It does not necessarily delete content, schedules, or previously collected analytics already stored in your Latitude workspace. Account disconnection and data deletion are separate actions.

You may also revoke the application’s authorization directly through your LinkedIn account settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Latitude Know My LinkedIn Password?

No. Your LinkedIn login is handled by LinkedIn.

Latitude receives an authorization token representing the specific permissions you approved, not your LinkedIn password.

Can Latitude Read My LinkedIn Messages?

No. Latitude does not require access to your private LinkedIn messages to provide its publishing and analytics features.

Can Latitude Publish Without My Permission?

Latitude can publish posts that you or another authorized Latitude user intentionally schedules or submits for publication.

Once a post is scheduled, Latitude uses the approved publishing permission to send it to LinkedIn at the selected time.

Can Latitude Access Other People’s Profiles?

Latitude receives limited information about the LinkedIn member who authorizes the connection.

LinkedIn restricts access to information about other members, and its Profile API does not provide unrestricted access to other people’s profiles.

How Can I See the Exact Permissions I Am Granting?

Review the authorization screen LinkedIn displays when you connect or re-authenticate an account.

That screen is the most direct record of the permissions being requested for the specific features you are enabling.
