Import Your LinkedIn Post History and Performance Data

Beta: Post data import is available to all Latitude users while we complete final improvements. If something does not work as expected, please share your feedback.

Importing your previous LinkedIn posts gives Latitude a clearer starting point. Your historical posts become available in Analytics, and Latitude can use that history to make more relevant content-strategy suggestions and create better-informed starter posts.

Imported posts are historical published posts. They are not added as drafts and cannot be scheduled as new posts.

What you can import

You can upload either LinkedIn export independently, upload both together, or add the second file later. Latitude detects each file automatically and reconciles overlapping information.

LinkedIn post history - Shares.csv

• Contains your complete available LinkedIn post history, including post identifiers and content.

• Comes from LinkedIn's full data archive.

• LinkedIn may take about 24 hours to prepare it.

LinkedIn post performance - AggregateAnalytics .xlsx

• Contains the performance data available in LinkedIn's analytics export.

• Is usually available immediately.

• Covers a maximum of 365 days and includes up to 50 top posts.

• Can be imported before Shares.csv. Latitude saves the performance data and matches it when the corresponding post history becomes available.

Shield export

If Shield import is enabled for your Latitude account, you can add a Shield CSV export through the same import flow. Shield data remains identified as imported unless matching metrics can be verified through LinkedIn.

Get your LinkedIn exports

Request Shares.csv

1. Open LinkedIn's Download your data page.

2. Request the full data archive.

3. Wait for LinkedIn to notify you that the archive is ready. This can take about 24 hours.

4. Download and unzip the archive. The file you need is named Shares.csv.

Download AggregateAnalytics .xlsx

1. In LinkedIn, select Me, then View profile.

2. Open Show all, then Post Impressions.

3. Select the date range you want to export.

4. Select Export and download the AggregateAnalytics workbook.

LinkedIn can change the location of these controls. If you do not see Post Impressions, open the analytics section from your LinkedIn profile and look for the post analytics export.

Import your files into Latitude

You can import while building or reviewing your Content Strategy, or from Analytics.

From Content Strategy

1. If you are a first-time user, Latitude presents Content Strategy during your initial setup.

2. To resume or revisit it later, open Settings, stay on the Strategy tab, and select Complete content strategy or Open content strategy.

3. In Content Strategy, open the Profile step.

4. Find Post History & Performance.

5. Select Import post data.

From Analytics

1. Open Analytics from the Latitude navigation.

2. Select the personal LinkedIn profile that owns the posts. Import is not available while All accounts or a company page is selected.

3. Select Import Post Data.

Then:

1. Drop or choose any supported files. You can add them in any order.

2. Select Preview detected data.

3. Review the number of records ready to import. Latitude lists only rows that need attention or will be skipped.

4. Select Import available data.

If some rows cannot be used, you can still import the valid data or go back and replace the affected file. Uploading the same or overlapping exports does not create duplicate post history; Latitude matches and updates compatible records.

What happens after import

Your imported history becomes available in Analytics. Latitude reconciles overlapping records from every supplied source and gives LinkedIn API-verified metrics priority over uploaded values.

Verification may continue after the import. When LinkedIn makes the metrics available through its API, Latitude marks them as verified. Historical metrics that LinkedIn no longer returns can remain available as imported performance data rather than disappearing.

If you imported only AggregateAnalytics, the performance data is saved immediately. Add Shares.csv later and Latitude will match the performance records to the corresponding posts where possible.

While you build or review your Content Strategy, imported post history can inform Latitude's suggested values and five starter posts. Suggestions remain editable: you can keep them, remove them, or replace them with your own answers.

If a file is not recognized

• Confirm that you selected the original Shares.csv, LinkedIn AggregateAnalytics .xlsx, or supported Shield export.

• Avoid renaming a different spreadsheet or CSV to imitate one of the supported files.

• Return to the review screen to see which rows need attention.

• If the export still fails, send us feedback and include the error shown in Latitude. Do not attach private export files to a public feedback post.

Troubleshooting

Shares.csv is missing

LinkedIn may send two archive emails. The first can contain a rapid collection of your data without Shares.csv. The complete archive generally takes about 24 hours and should include Shares.csv.

Wait for LinkedIn's second email before contacting support. If the complete archive still does not contain Shares.csv, contact Latitude support and include the date you requested the archive. Do not attach your LinkedIn archive to a public post.
